Kicking things up a notch

I don’t know if it’s the time of year, my age, or maybe some internal truths have come home to roost but the other day I thought long and hard about where I am and where I wish to go.
I have oft complained about being the ‘token liberal’.  I don’t intend on changing my political [...]

Waxing Nostalgic

probably because I can’t wax poetic ….
I’ve mentioned before but music tends to trigger memory faster than anything — including scents and smells.  Nothing quite takes me back right to that moment better (or faster) than the song that was playing.
The prime example is an absolutely goofy song by Dexy’s Midnight Runners – Come On [...]

If you remember 2 weeks ago, I was going to try something a bit different for Art Sunday on this blog.
I forgot last week.
So far we’re up to Hopper’s Rooms by the Sea – one of my favorites (and the one pictured above).  If we keep with that color scheme, I think perhaps this:

Captured Memories

another direction, a different reason for blogging.
Captured Memories
I tend to take my camera everywhere.  Life for me is captured moments, captured memories.
Thoughts often jumbled and incoherent at the time, make sense later.

No don’t call my psychiatrist – he’s off speedial anyway.
I have noticed however that Jon and I spend more quality time together.  Strange huh?  Before we were close [...]

 …and we had brunch.
More specifically, I made brunch.
Sadly I forget from time to time just how much I enjoy cooking.  Brunch is one of those lovely meals that I love best – it can be complex or simplistic and still it’s wonderful to fit, plate, and enjoy over the dining room table.

Scrambled eggs with cheese [...]

Before the clicky the linky for Moresca you should probably know that this is speciality clothing – specifically renaissance festival/faire clothing.
Moresca is basically an ‘off the rack’ easy to wear and versatile clothing shop that specializes in renfaire clothes.   They have everything from belly dance clothing (the khadja line) to pirate bodices, nobles (the Phillipa line) [...]

Whoa – where did the time go?
This year it will just be the 3 of us for Thanksgiving.  I should be sad and I might be closer to the holiday, but for now I’m embracing the challenge (and excitement) of cooking for 3.
Normally I put on a big spread for the holidays.  This can get [...]

Good grief already?

I wander aimlessly into my HR director’s office only to be assaulted with CHRISTMAS MUSIC from her XM radio.
 ALREADY?
Isn’t it a rule that Christmas Music can’t start until after Thanksgiving?
Shouldn’t there be a law?????
